  • Description

Course Description In this course, students will write and submit compositions to be considered for Stone Soup Magazine, which is the literary magazine 100% written and illustrated by kids around the world since 1973. Students will learn writing strategies on generating and collecting ideas, organization and structure, elaboration, word choice and so on. They will practice outlining strategies and receive lessons in foundational writing mechanics. Students will compose several one-paragraph writing assignments following this methodology.

Students will select the favorite compositions they’ve created, and they will revise and improve these works under the guidance of their teacher. At the conclusion of the course, each child will have prepared at least one submission to send to the magazine.
